What is IV sedation?

Intravenous (IV) Sedation is also known as – conscious sedation, twilight sedation, sedation dentistry or sleep dentistry.

IV Sedation is an efficient way of allowing patients to remain relaxed and comfortable throughout the treatment, ensuring a enjoyable and seamless experience.

IV Sedation consists of a combination of sedatives and pain-relieving drugs to put patients in a relaxing and pleasant light sleep whilst they maintain their ability to breathe on their own, maintain protective reflexes and the ability to respond verbally to us if required.

Patients are profoundly unaware of the surroundings and what dental procedures being provided. Because of the effects of sedatives, they have little or no recollection of the experience after waking up.

Upon completion of treatment, patients will be closely monitored for recovery in the surgery until they are ready to be discharged into the care of a responsible adult.
